Do you want to live for ever? Not only forever, but forever and healthy in a place of peace and joy? No hunger no pain?
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him. should not perish but have everlasting life " John 3:16
Pretty good deal is'nt it? I think so, alot of doubting "Thomas's" also thought so once they found out the truth. The very term "doubting Thomas" came from an early convert to Jesus who went from being a doubter to being a very fervent believer. That's the the strange and wonderful thing about Christianity. People who hated the very thought of Jesus. People like Paul in the first century went from hating and oppressing the believers to becoming disciples. Paul wrote many of the books in the New Testament. Then you can jump to the 20th Century where there was a very sceptical Oxford professor named C. S. Lewis who scoffed at Christians, Jesus and the whole idea of God in general. Lewis however was smart enough to have an open Lewis investigated he too became a believer. In between the first and the twentieth millions of doubters became believers.
How about reading the Bible with an open heart, there are many good modern translations available. The Gideon Society ( its a good site to check out. ) gives them away for free.
There is one single theme that runs through them. God always stood by his people. God never completely gave up on mankind no matter how evil and corrupt we became. If you do not want to read ( at first ) the entire Bible at least read the New Testament, read about the life of Jesus."For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him and he with Me." Revelations 3:20
"...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved." Romans 10:9
Eternal life, being raised up after dying, eating dinner with God. This sounds pretty good to me how about reading the Bible and finding out more.
The Parable Of The Spoons (A Beautiful Story)
A holy man was having a conversation with the Lord one day and said, "Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like. "The Lord led the holy man to two doors. He opened one of the doors and the holy man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled delicious and made the holy man's mouth water.
The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished. They were holding spoons with very long handles and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths. The holy man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. The Lord said, "You have seen Hell."
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the holy man's mouth water. The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here the people were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking. The holy man said, "I don't understand."
It is simple" said the Lord, "it requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other. While the greedy think only of themselves.
